Every 5 hours a baby is born premature.

Being born premature means it has been born before it's 37th week.

One in ten premature babies will develop a permanent disability such as blindness, deafness, lung disease or cerebral palsy. They also have an extremely high risk for neonatal death (death within 28 days of being born) and being stillborns (dead at birth).


Very premature babies are often confined to incubators. They cannot be help, they are kept alive by machines, tubes and wires. They often have their eyes shielded with blindfolds as they are not done forming and cannot handle the light. They are often pricked with needles, monitored, tested on... all to keep them alive, but extremely stressful for the baby. Many go through painful procedures quite often...

The parents want to be there for their babies! But many have other children to look after, some live hours away since many premature infants are taken to special hospitals, many have jobs, family... so many situations that prevent them from being able to care for their new family member. Not to mention they have to pay off the hospital bills which can amount to several thousands within a few days! Depending on how long the infant is in need of extensive care, the family might end up paying what is essentially tuition to Harvard just to keep their precious son or daughter alive!

Beyond all the testing and monitoring, the infants are alone. When they must lay in their incubators for hours upon hours... no one is in there with them but the tubes, wires and devices.

Or at least... they used to be.



Ty Beanie Babies. They took the world by storm and have continued to amaze. They brought smiles to everyone who saw one they liked (and everyone has had that one Beanie Baby they just adored at one time), were worshiped by collectors and great joy to anyone who got a Mc.Donald's happy meal during the great Beanie Baby rush.

Now, they are being used to help these young babies.

One or two Ty Beanie Babies put into an incubator for the little infant to hang on to... does wonders. They are soft, moldable, can hold the tubes and wiring, hide equipment and prop up young babies who have nothing else! Now, finally, they do not have to be alone all the time!



... At least, some of them can.

The parents cannot simply bring a Beanie Baby for their child. No... they have to be Ty brand and they have to be sterilized. Ty brand Beanie Babies are the only brand that can withstand the heat of the sterilization process.

... And that's where we come in. We are Beanie Babies 4 Preemie Babies.

Beanie Babies 4 Preemie Babies is a charity drive devoted to getting those Ty brand Beanie Babies, having them sterilized and provided to the infants in need! We work with the hospitals dedicated to this program and help the families and babies through this rough time!

The best part about this program is that anyone and everyone is capable of helping!

Be it a Ty Beanie Baby, money or advertisement! WE NEED YOU!

We need a logo! Something that can be shrunk down to fit on business cards, rubber stamps and tags, as well as something to go onto the site.

We need banners! For people to link to our site in order to help spread the word about the charity drive!

We need signs! That can be set up when we are out and about advertising and collecting donations!

We need banners! We can use to advertise while walking around or just sitting at a table!

We need t-shirt designs! That we can wear in order to help advertise the charity!

We need pictures! That can go onto the site in the pictures section! Going to a convention? Cosplaying? Going to school? To work? I don't care where you go or why, just get a picture of yourself and a Beanie Babie (or draw a Beanie Baby and a baby or just a Beanie Baby so long as it is Ty brand), and post it onto DA with a short advertisement for the charity!!

WE NEED IT ALL!!!!

Everyone at EVERY skill level!!

All entries are to me sent to me through a Note with a link to the entry. All entries will receive a from me, be listed here at the bottom and be put on the website with a link to their DA page with their name!

MAY 1ST we will take all the entries for the Logo and pick our favorite (since this is for a charity, we cannot simply have the viewers vote for one, we have to run this past a few lawyers and charity experts)! The winner will receive a ONE YEAR SUBSCRIOTION to Deviantart! Which you can take, donate back to us to re-use later, or give to a friend! (And it will be used by us with your name going onto the site as well)

No matter what you do, win or not, NO ONE is losing! Because you all are helping those tiny babies and their families!

The logo contest may end April 1st, but this is an ongoing this! If 3 years from now I get a note from someone with a picture, they will still get it 'd by me and put onto the website with their name!
